Varsity Blues
Varsity Blues (1999) is a coming-of-age comedy-drama about the intense, football-obsessed culture of a small Texas town (West Canaan), where backup quarterback Jonathan "Mox" Moxon (James Van Der Beek) is thrust into the spotlight after the star QB gets injured, forcing him to navigate immense pressure, a demanding coach (Jon Voight), and the temptations of sudden fame while trying to stay true to his own dreams of escaping to college.
